The B.Ed., Course combines practical training in teaching with theoretical and practical methods of teaching. The duration of the course is one year. Opportunities for observation and practical teaching are provided through real practice in schools. The medium of instruction is English.

Subjects of Study in the B.Ed.Course
(Theory Component)

Group A - CORE COURSES
(All the THREE Core Papers are compulsory)

  1. Education in Emerging Indian Society
  2. Psychology of Teaching and Learning
  3. Educational Innovations and Technology
  4. Computers in Education

Group B - ELECTIVE COURSE
(Students have to choose any ONE of the following papers)

  1. Peace Education
  2. Education for the Mentally handicapped
  3. Environmental Education
  4. Guidance and Counseling
  5. Curriculum Development
  6. Human Rights Education

Group C – OPTIONAL SUBJECTS
(School oriented methodology courses) Students have to choose TWO subject oriented methodology courses from the courses mentioned below.
All undergraduates shall offer their major subject of study as one optional. The second optional shall be either English or Tamil for the UG candidates. Post graduates will offer both the optionals from the subject in which they have acquired their Post graduate degree.
